ORPC Ireland plan kicks off: EU-funded programme aims to advance hydrokinetic technology
November 15, 2016
US marine energy developer Ocean Renewable Power (ORPC) has started working on the €3.2m TAOIDE project in Ireland to advance its hydrokinetic turbine. The technology development project is now underway after securing EU Horizon 2020 funding in June, its technical lead said.
The plan aims to validate system improvements to a full-scale ORPC hydrokinetic turbine and its associated economics. Lab testing will take place at University College Cork’s Lir National Ocean Test Facility.
