Showcasing Hydrokinetic Energy Innovations for Northwest European Energy Sovereignty

SHINES focuses on a powerful yet untapped natural force: tidal and river currents. This project, co-funded by the European Union through Interreg NWE, will test three innovative technologies, including ORPC’s RivGen® Power System, in real-world conditions on offshore test sites in France and Netherlands. The project’s aim is to prove that hydrokinetic energy can play a key role in Europe’s energy transition. Beyond demonstration, SHINES will identify and de-risk the most promising sites in each partner country, working hand in hand with local stakeholders to pave the way for the large-scale deployment of hydrokinetic solutions.
