June 19, 2010 Energy Secretary Chu Applauds ORPC’s Tidal Energy Efforts
On June 14, 2010, ORPC President and CEO Chris Sauer and ORPC-Maine Vice President of Project Development John Ferland briefed U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Steven Chu on our Beta Tidal Energy Project in Eastport, Maine. Secretary Chu expressed interest in our project and emphasized the importance of ORPC’s work to advancing ocean energy in the U.S. ORPC hopes that Secretary Chu will return to Maine in August to visit the project while it generates electricity from tidal currents in Cobscook Bay.
